patter what. cbs 5 reporter linda yee shows us they are trying to learn from the giants celebration. >> reporter: they did learn some very big lessons. if the 49ers do win this sunday, the mission here, one of many hot spots around the city where fans love to celebrate in the streets, but the cops say they are putting trouble makers on notice. >> restaurants and bars are gearing up and the city is getting down to buzz to prevent violence sunday night -- business to prevent violence sunday night. >> we have many officers preassigned to certain places, certainly the mission, north beach, the marina. >> merchants appreciate the police presence, but liquor store owner says there is a down side, too. >> the police is coming.

burglary. it happened just before two a-m on mohoney drive in east san jose. a brutal attack in san jose after a woman calls to report a car burglary just before 2:00 a.m. police say the suspect chased the caller and another woman into the house and assaulted them. he also chased them back into the street and attacked them a second time. the suspect then went back to the victim's house and stole several other things. a man who police call one of the worst criminals they have ever seen is behind bars after a month long investigation. s.w.a.t. team closed in on mitchell pope this morning.

pope surrendered peacefully after a 30-minute standoff. officers considered him a high threat to society. >> in my mind i have two or three names over the 13, 14 years i have been on the job where i will never forget them because they are so sophisticated and violent it is almost impossible to forget them. they are where they need to be. >> pope was wanted for attempted murder. he is linked to several shootings in san jose. investigators are searching the home for evidence linking him to those shootings. police in fairfield are investigating the apparent had had of a teenage girl. her body was discovered this morning at a park. police were still on the scene as of this afternoon. a passer by found the body and notified police. so far the victim's identity is not being released. no word on any suspects. an oakland woman could face

charges for an amber alert hoax. she called police saying her husband beat her and then kidnapped their child. an am bare -- amber alert was issued but the husband called and said there was no kidnapping or child. some nudist protested today in front of city hawaii four people were arrested for violating the ban. the nudist say the ban violates their civil rights. this week a judge dismissed a lawsuit by the group trying to overturn the ban. he survived rainstorms, super sized steaks. right now our own mike sugerman checks in closing in on new orleans. the star quarterback's

protesting guests alcohol. men 21 to 34 are the most likely to drive drunk according to the national safety administration. laws vary state to state, but in california, they per tin specifically to host that provide alcohol to guests under 21. that doesn't mean you can't be sued if a drunk adult leaves your party and injuries someone else. >> they have to review their homeowner's policy and specifically look at what are the limits of their coverage. >> it may also cover everything from food poisoning to a slip and fall. but when it comes to alcohol it won't cover you criminally. so, along with the snacks, this year party planners should be proactive about post party lance. >> people staying at my -- plans. >> people staying at my house

bridge that has been under construction for the past 11 years. that bay bridge was opened up on november 12th of 1936. that is 76 years ago. actually, it opened up six months ahead of the golden gate bridge. obviously it is time for a little facelift. so, 11 years ago reconstruction began on this bay bridge, the eastern span which does carry nearly 300,000 commuters a day. so, what has been going on is construction and construction and cbs 5 is now proud to say that we are going to host a super night at the new bay bridge which will originate from new orleans and a new eastern span of the bridge which is slated to open up labor day this year. california governor and former oakland mayor jerry brown will start the count down clock of
